It refers to the ethnic conflict which has plagued Sri Lanka for several decades. The need for the country to exist as a soveregin state where all groups both ethnic and religious would peacefully live together. The attempt to activate large tracts of land under the Mahaveli Development Program exclusively to a particular ethnic group and the author`s effort to thwart the attempt is dealt with.
